It was bought for $586.53. Someone piad that amount because they wanted to own that box. The prices are governed by the BUYER on ebay. If someone wants to spend more than you do, then someone wants to spend more than you do.

Good for Tony! I recently saw a pair of cokes sell in excess of $600............
Prices have been going nuts on EBay and Gunbroker - this is nothing new.

l dont trust ebay any more. l guess its because l got tired of being sniped in the last fourteen hundredths of a second by some unknown bidder with ZERO feedback after seeing the price double. Now l only bid on "buy it now" items

If I knew I could get that for mine I believe I would have to separate it from the gun!

Holey moley!
My box is nicer than that.
If I could sell it, for close to that then I could afford a couple bricks of .22LR!

Prices are CRAZY these days. Is it because the boomers are finally retiring and buying what they couldn't afford when they were younger?

When two or three bidders really want an item this is what often happens, and not just on ebay. I don't think it will set a new pricing standard for this style of case that was used from 75-79.

That is a good theory actually. I have sold some guns on GB lately that brought way more than I would have got here on the forum where prices are tempered by knowledge. I think prices on this forum are generally fair. In some instances high, and occasionally but rarely low. That is due to knowledge of the products.
On gun auctions the buyers may or may not have a good working knowledge of an items inherent value. In fact they may not care and I think this is what is happening. They don't care what the "Blue Book" is. They just like what they see and have deep enough pockets to go get it. They are happy, the seller is happier... I love America

My sentiments exactly. Maddening.
