Default Say hello to my new friend...Model 36

Well, just picked up this 36 no dash today. I was originally looking for 36-10 with the lock, way too over priced IMHO and let's face it...it's not a TRUE, Classic Smith. I found her at a local LGS/LE Supply. It was most likely an LEO's back-up/off duty gun. It's barely been fired and I still can't believe the steal I got this for! I also grabbed a box of 'FBI Loads' while I was there. Included is a pic of my growing snubbie collection. Now if I can just find my 'Holy Grail'...a Model 64 snub!

Nice catch. Model 36s are very nice guns and yours looks to be extra good condition.

Thanks guys! I'm going to see what info Smith can get for me. Last time I was in this place he had 6 36's and a 37. I couldn't believe my eyes, I've never seen that many in one place, at one time. It's pretty much a 'cop' store with odd hours, so the place doesn't get a lot of traffic.

VERY nice! Barely shows a turn line. I much prefer the older Smiths, not so much because of the lock or MIM parts as because of the hands-on craftsmanship that went into them.

Congratulations on your find. That's one smart-looking Chief's Special.

Also nothing wrong with getting a classic load for a classic snubby. But don't be afraid to try different defense ammo to see which one yours likes the most.

My own personal '71 vintage M36 shoots best with 158 grainers, be they standard velocity or +P.

That serial number should put it around 1968-69, unless it has a "J" in front.

Nice pick-up. I bought a no-dash in similar condition about a year ago--no regrets. Easy to carry and quite accurate at SD distances.

Very nice! I have one of just about the same vintage (serial # 550xxx) which belonged to my grandfather. Can you use the speedloader with the standard stocks (grips)?
