25-2 Model of 1955 Value?
I have the opportunity to buy a 25-2 Model of 1955. The owner states it is a 6" barrel and in 95% or so condition. Original grips, blue box, tools, paperwork, presentation box(crumbling lining), and shipping box that has a matching label and fits the presentation box and blue box. Assuming the condition is as described, any idea what this package may be worth?
I've seen them sell with the blue box or the presentation box, but never any with both plus the original shipping box with the label.
Thanks

I don't think the shipping box would add much value to a 95%er, NIB probably would though.

I believe they came in both 6 and 6 1/2 inch barrels, and I think the 6" is fairly rare. However, folks have a habit of calling them all 6 inchers. This is just a late night recollection, so maybe one of the guys will show up with some accurate info. Oh, and what a great hog leg.

Disregarding the rarities 25-2s were all 6½” until approximately 1980 when 6½” barrels were superseded by 6” barrels. Either of two things may make a bigger difference in value than the boxes: a pinned barrel or the desirable half inch. 6" barrels were not pinned for long so it's likely the one you are considering is not pinned unless the seller's 6" figure is only approximate.
In my area 25-2s sell for $800 to $900. 25-2s that should get a big price mark down in collector value still fetch $800 if they have demonstrated performance in matches. It seems there are more competitors seeking .45 ACP revolvers than collectors. Your area may be different.

k22fan gave some good advice. I suspect the people who would be willing to buy a 95% gun won't give a hoot about the boxes. They are looking for a shooter to either compete with, or if it were me to make into something interesting like a 3.5" or 5". Oh yea, I have a 5"...so it would be a 3.5". On second thought, don't get me started. I don't need another custom gun (LOL).
