Default K-32

Why did this not sell? Too much? Something wrong with it I am missing?

Smith & Wesson Lettered 16-3, K-32 Masterpiece : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

Had I had $3,000 I might have been tempted...sadly, (or luckily) I did not.

Beautiful example, reasonable in price.

I am surprised it did not sell. There are not that many out there and they have NEVER been more popular and coveted than they are today.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but it may be a little more than the current market is willing to pay at this time.

Wink

I think $3k is too pricey for a dash3. I reviewed all the pics carefully. They left me with a bit of doubt...too much flash made it less than clear. Not all views available; too much time spent on the box. Left a little unease which I have learned to listen to. Lastly, the BS about having to sell it to pay bills...he's a regular buyer and seller on GB.

Just my thoughts.

Bad strategy to start an auction at such a high price, he should have a starting price much lower with the appropriate reserve. IMHO

That was my thought. I would like to have a K32 and the -3 ECO gun would be no great hardship for me, but the $3000 price is nothing I would be willing to pay. Nice looking gun though.

I have the feeling collectors favor the five-screw and four-screw K-32s. Even if the 16-3 guns are fewer in number (and I don't know that they are), scarcity may not drive the market as forcefully as earlier ship dates.

But whether I am right or wrong on that, the K-32 market simply fluctuates. Some days people push and shove to get a bid in on an available gun, and some days you couldn't get anyone to pay attention with a neon sign and an arrow dancer on a street corner.

That gun has been noticed before and its data captured, by the way. It shipped in 1972.

It appears pretty well taken care of but the ejector rod shows enough wear to indicate that it has seen a fair amount of range time. I'd put my money elsewhere unless I had really deep pockets.

Best Regards,

There was also a 16-2 listed at the same time for $2700 with a $2900 BIN. Gun only, appeared to be in very nice condition, had 3T's (nice set of diamond football targets) but instead of the usual patridge sight it had a plain black Baughman ramp. Listed twice with no takers.

Welcome to the Forum.

You need to start your own thread, rather than tagging onto someone elses, especially since this one is kinda old.

I have a early fifties k model .32 and would like to have another but not at $3000.00. That price is way too high for a 16-2, maybe $1500.00 to $2000.00. Most of your high dollar sw collectors already have one of the earlier .32's and the little guy is not going to pay that price. I wish sw would bring back the .32 long,a .32 hr and a .327 mag all in the sw k model, boy you talk about some fine guns. I would have to find money some were for all three.
