David is always quite good to give accurate descriptions of his firearms.

Very very nice. Almost to nice to shoot? I might have to put that in the back off the safe if it were mine. Tough call. Brian

I don't think you'll hurt it with a day at the range every now and then. Just keep it out of a holster and in a gun rug or sock. I have a 19 no dash just as nice and it gets a few rounds every once in a while. BTW, very nice!

I believe it would be a shame not to shoot such a nice gun, but for me tht is what they are for. You can have some great times at the range with your revolver, and not hurt it at all. Ray

That's beautiful, I love the grips. A perfect example of the perfect revolver.

Very nice indeed. I'd shoot it but take care not to mar the finish in any way.

I guess I will have to listen to the consensus of the people and put a few rounds through it. I have some 98%+ Smiths that I do fire, including my mint pre-27, but I have never had a 99%+. This thing BARELY has a turn line. It was, however, manufactured for one purpose!

Very nice !
judging by the rollstamp it looks like a pre 1970 gun ?
Is the Front site ramp a seperate piece that was pinned to the barrel ?
Do you mind sharing the serial or partial serial ?

Minority Opinion
Norsk,
I know I'm in the minority here but oh well. That is one beautiful gun and to be nearly 40 years old and not have a blemish...wow! And on top of that, you have the box and all the other doodads too! I'd put her away. Here's why.
It may not happen to you but whenever I go to the range or take my guns into the field some little thing often happens that I don't like. A little bump against a rock with my holstered gun or whatever. Heck, it can even happen while cleaning. An inadvertent slip of the screwdriver trying to remove the stock screw or the cylinder screw and voila....buggered screws or worse yet a scratch on the finish! That's why I have two kinds of guns, shooters and queens (but not enough queens).

Very nice!
Good excuse to buy a 95% Combat Magnum!
I treat my 99%'s different than most folks I guess.
I like to sight them in with my carry load, and then mostly not shoot them much, but carry them when the mood strikes me.
Emory

That is the plan Emory. Thanks to you I have a beautiful holster with which to carry it. Now the question is, when should we sight it in?
