Default 34-1 current value?

Today, I spotted a J-Frame that I always wanted. This is model 34-1 with 4" barrel in excellent condition but missing the box. The guy wants $650. What's the going rate?

thanks,

Dan

I have seen the same here in my LGS with the box and papers for $650. This was an 80's model non pinned in the one piece box. I thought it was a little high personally.

I know what you're saying about being high. I'm currently making 75% of what I did 10 years ago and the prices on these nice old S&W's have doubled.

I was thinking $500 is the top of the mark, but I haven't found anything in that range to compare.

good luck finding a nice 34 for 500. look at the auction sites at completed auctions to see what they have been selling for. I don't watch non pinned bbl guns, but the pinned ones have been in the 650 and above range for a while now.

I picked up this 4" nickel 34-1 a month ago at a little local gun show. The seller was asking $500 and I offered $450 and he said yes. I don't think deals like this are common any more though. I was finding similar guns for $600 and up.Mine did not come with a box or anything.

Thanks guys, I guess his price isn't that unrealistic. Sticker shock lately has my head spinning. I might offer $600 and see what happens.

Saw 2 of them yesterday at a gun show with priced at $799 each. Both 4", one was SB, the other RB with flat latch. Both in very nice condition. Seems that prices are rising on these.
