Picked up a 27-2 6 1/2" S today
A month or so ago I posted some pictures of a Model 29-2 in 6 1/2", Model 66 in 6" and a Model 48 in 8 3/8" that I purchased from a gentleman who inherited them from his Grandfather. Today I got three more. This is an outstanding 27-2 S prefix 6 1/2" with smooth grips. No box on this one but a very nice gun I am excited to own.

You should be excited, those don't turn up that often especially in that condition.

B.G.:
My 6.5" early 27-2 is configured the same way, but has a bunch more miles on it. SN S268489 shipped in Aug 1965. It's missing 40% of its bluing, sports a set of personalized Ahrends' finger groove stocks, has been tuned by Nelson Ford, and is in my range bag every time I go shooting. It is one of my favorite shooters!
Congrats on a great gun!

Thanks for the compliments and I am very excited to pick up these collectables from the seller. He is a really nice guy. An MP in the Army. He still has more but my $$$ is getting used up. I stretched out a bit because this stuff does not come along every day. The serial # on this one is 254### which should put it in the 1964-1965 range according to the complete book of S&W. Brian

That is a very, very nice Model 27-2. The 6 1/2 version is a very seldom seen barrel length, in my experience. I have never seen one! I would also suggest it might be a special order. 27's of barrel lengths of over 6 inches were shipped with the Patridge front sight as standard, and standard trigger and hammer and Magna grips. Obviously, yours has full target configuration and red ramp sight. That is really cool that you have a rather seldom see configuration!! Congratulations on a fine find.

Nice gun in a classic barrel length, the grips look great on it. I like the 6 1/2" barrels on the N frames. Have fun with this one, Larry

Again, Thank You all. This forum is a big part of the reason I have started to watch and actually collect some of these S&W revolvers. I have never gotten a letter on any of S&W's. Do you think this would be a good time to start? I know that some people have both positive and negative opinions on the letters? Brian
