Stag, Stag, Bourbon, Bone, Smith & Wesson and Handloads
Had this idea running through my mind, and I just had to do it, and after I did it, well, I had to share:
S&W 15-4, with Grashorn Stag grips.
Staghorn Beer, by New Glarus
Bourbon Whisky, by Eagle Rare
Pocket knife, by Case
Handload of 150 grain DEWC at 850fps.
P.S. If anyone knows anything about Case knives and could tell me more, I'd be much obliged. I inherited it from my wife's grandfather, and sharpened up a nice edge on it. It has a nice patina, was easy to sharpen, and it took a good edge. I've field dressed a few rabbits with it and love it.

It's the kind of pocket-knife that grandfathers carry. Just looking at it evokes a time long gone. Very nice.

That is a Case Copperhead knife, the shape of the bolster is characteristic. One site says it is shaped that way to cover the corner of the blade tang and keep it from wearing your pocket.
The stamp on the shank of the big blade indicates the era made.
Case XX = 1950-1964
Case XX/USA = 1965-1969
Case XX/USA/.......... = 1970-1979 Ten dots in 1970, one removed per year, so one dot in 1979.
Repeat in the 1980s but with "Lightning" S in Ca Se and U SA.
More at:
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/...tification.php
including earlier trademarks if the knife is more than 63 years old.

I don't see any dots, so 1965-1969 I suppose. Thanks for the help! Here's a closer picture.

Sweet old knife, and nice gun. I have to pass on the beer and bourbon, but it's a handsome arrangement.

My Copperhead is much later, a one dot 1979.
My oldest is the three bladed stockman's knife I gave my Uncle for Christmas, that he returned to me when he went in the nursing home in decline. It is a ten dot 1970 model.
I have carried more modern pocket clip knives ever since I lost a gift knife from a shallow pants pocket.

That is a copperhead Case.
Very nice pic all around.
Steel, bone and spirits. Only thing missing is leather.

A potent combination to be sure! Perhaps best when not all enjoyed at the same time!

You really shouldn't go too far in your quest about Case knives....I've been collecting them for years, even before S&W! They really are well-made....even the modern ones....and there are lots of choices.
And, if I were to ask my wife....which I won't.....I have too many of each.

I picked up a 1969 (IIRC) Case slimline, bear head, 1 blade trapper from a pawn shop a few years ago for $5. It has the Jigged Delrin (IIRC) simulated bone scales.
Took one helluva sharp edge with just a few passes on a fine diamond hone.
I actually quit carrying pocket clip knives after losing several. My uniform pants have front pockets that go all the way down to the cargo pockets. I normally carry a US made Schrade 3 blade stockman or a 1981 Camillus U.S. (stainless steel, 4 blade-knife, can opener, bottle opener, leather punch) military camp/scout knife.
I also have an affinity for the Barlow pattern. Especially when it's an old Case, Schrade, Boker, or Imperial.

My brother worked in the Case factory for a while in the 70's. Excellent old-school craftsmanship. I have the 3-blade Stockman and it gets used daily.

That New Glarus beer is good stuff. Served kegs of their "Spotted Cow" formula at my daughter's wedding. Oh yea, nice M15 too!

Very nice! Reminded me about the old Case Sod Buster I had laying in the drawer. Just great quality knives. Your S&W ain't bad either.
