Pg 398 of the S&W Standard Catalog says your revolver was made between 1978 to 1980.

My listing puts it in the middle - 1979. That's a manufacturing date, not a shipping date, which could be later.

N550,001 – N580,000….. 1979

thanks for the info .. traded it for a $450 Filipino made commander size 1911. It came with a set of Ahrends custom cocobolo target grips, i think i did ok on the trade.. im guessing the trade value on the 28-2 is about $450 - $500 plus the custom grips
