Thumbs up Now that is a BUDDY!!!

Missed the start of our annual club Open House and flea market this morning because I had to travel 90 miles in the opposite direction to buy a replacement Bi-Pap machine for my sleep apnea. About 11 oclock my buddy calls and asks where I am. I told him I was almost back to town and that I should be at the club by around noon.
He calmly announces that one of the other club members has a Model 58 up for sale on his table. He then tells me the price almost causing me to wreck. In the midst of the drooling and swerving I manage to ask him to see if the fellow will hold it till I get there and that I will have cash in hand.
Ernie just laughs and says "I already have and he has it behind his seat for you" NOW FOLKS THAT IS A BUDDY
I get there and pay the fellow and admire my 1967 vintage S serial number Model 58.
Great Gun, Great Price and a Great Friend. And to make it even more perfect Great Weather and they still had plenty of food.
Thanks Buddy
Chip King

Since everything good deserves pics here are a couple of my Model 58. Other than one bad spot on the left side of the barrel ( oh well), a set of very ugly Sile grips (replaced) and a trigger shoe (removed) this is the way I got it.

I've got to get me a better class of buddy.

Actually, you know what? We've been calling each other for over a year when we find ammo available and not insanely priced. I guess my buds are alright. Sometimes we just buy it and work it out later. It always works out.

Attached pics to the first post. Shoots great now I may need to find a set of Diamond service grips. Just cause. Don't do many diners with Ernie but the next breakfast or two at Cracker Barrel will be on me for sure.

Default GOOD BUDDY

BUT would he suck out the snake venom if you got bit in the ***? Being a good Buddy and honest aint easy. My Bud has been trying to buy my stainless sig 220 forever, I always say no, but if I ever find one I'll lay out the money and you can have it at my cost. wouldn't you know it I come across 2 stainless sigs, a 239 40 cal and a 220, 500$ each. it turns out the 220 is not stainless but both were tricked out, nickel plated, internal lasers, fiber optic sights, action & trigger jobs and hand stippling around the front of the grips, real beauties and done by someone that really knew what they were doing! And a serious test of my honesty and our friendship, I let him have it for 500$, after some range time to make sure they worked of course.

A really good friend would be sitting next to you in the holding cell, saying "She didn't LOOK like a cop."

Aloha Chip,

I think we met in 1997 when the I and the Wife visited N Virginia. We stayed at her sister's home in Fairfax.

You met me and we went to a small one room gun show and you were amused by my shock and awe at all the guns and stuff we can't have here in Hawaii. Especially the full auto, suppressed firearms.

BTW, I have several ex police M-58 that are in worse looking shape than yours.

I remember very well those were good times. I also enjoyed the GREAT coffee and the nuts. Next time in I will try to find us a bigger show.
Funny thing about the 58's I have seen some pretty ugly ones myself but I have not yet seen one that did not shoot very well and function without problems. I am sure there may be one or two bad ones out there but I am still trying to find them.

Good for you - excellent friend.
My 'buddies' would have bought it, knowing I wanted it badly and then either taunted me with it, or flipped it to me, making $100-$200 in the process.
