Default Bangor Punta Box Question

Hi all,
Can somebody please answer this question? What year did they stop printing the gun description in grey/silver on the end of the blue Bangor Punta boxes?

Gees that's a tough one!

It will vary among models, finish, and barrel lengths (some shipped quicker than others) but since you mention blue boxes; I am going to say 1976.
I would question an original box on a blued revolver from <'76 that did not have the description embossed on the end but also would expect to see it still on boxes that shipped much later, especailly if it were nickel or a less popular barrel length.

Thanks, that sounds logical. I'm sure that they used them until the supply ran out, so less popular models/bbl lengths/finishes would still be correct later. But a first year mod 66 would be correct in a machine printed on one end and a label on the other regardless, right?

Model 19 tunnel vision...

Yes. Unless you're talking a K949xxx M66, the box end of a Model 66 in the 2K through at least 7K range should look like this.

I have two 1973-74 Bangor Punta Chief Special boxes, one blue & one gray, and neither one has the model etc embossed on the end-- just the standard label. Ditto for a B-P model 13-1 box from 1976-77. Page 33 of the 3rd edition SCSW does not mention an embossed end when describing the 1966-85 B-P boxes, just the printed label.

Various years.

1971, unknown (no serial number label), yes, handcuffs, and 1975.
