Happy Birthday to Me! And my 29-2, odd Birthday Gun.
I found this in a small shop in Red Bank Tennesse several years ago, those of you from around here may remember Darr's. About the only reason to drive into Red Bank. This place was a pretty cool little shop in it's day, since closed. They would put stuff back for me every now and then and this is one of the gems I plucked from them.
The counter guy told me 'We have a nice old .44 back here' and produced this, an 'S' prefix 29-2 with Cokes. I could not believe it when he brought it out. Total price OTD was $400. This was maybe 8 years ago, give or take.
I had it lettered and it turns out that this gun left the factory on September 20 1963. My birthday is today, September 20 1960, so in an odd way this is a (semi) Birthday gun, just three years late.
What are the odds of this happening?
This is one that I'll never part with, she's a shooter, but relagated to light loads. I'd love to find a 'true' Birthday gun but have a feeling I'll search long and hard to find it.
I must say that she has carried her years better than I.
Happy Birthday old Girl!
RD

Great gun in very nice shape. It's been hard trying to find a birthday gun that I want. I have a 1950 and a 1947, but need a 1948 gun.

The price is a stroke of luck as well as the date. That's a deal at 400 even 8 years ago.

Nice 29. I was lucky enough to find a birth year gun but a birthday gun is out as I was born on a Sunday.
This one shipped February 1966
