Brass Tyler T Vs. Silver Tyler T on a 27 3.5 Incher???
Looking for some feedback here...Which color do we prefer...I always liked the Silver T's so I went and found one (Thanks dotdsd334) for my 27 3.5 Inchers ...a forum member **DB** suggested I try and find a brass Tyler T because on the older blued guns they look spectacular..
I posted a WTB ad for one and a VERY GRACIOUS forum member **(runwiththeherd)** sent one to me at no charge and insisted I do not pay him as it was just making dust in his safe....Thats why I love this forum....PAY IT FORWARD is my motto...any ways I took some pics and want your opionion...which is your favorite Tyler T.. Silver or Brass

Well, I just made the wife vote and she says Brass all the way....
I explained if I leave the brass on there she would have to ok me to purchase a Nickel Pre 27 with some ivories for the Silver Tyler T....Lets just say that conversation ended quickly...But she loves the Brass...

For blued guns, I prefer the black T-Grip, since it is inconspicuous and doesn't detract as much from the classic appearance. That's what I have on my M49.

But then where is your spice if you bring it to your local BBQ...lol...
All joking aside...I agree Black does look great...Maybe I will have to grab one of those next and do a 3 way vote...

T Grips
I had a little trouble making up my mind too. So I bought several and swap them around at times. As for my preference, however, I like the brass on blue combo.

I like the black. I have black and silver ones but no brass. Are they real cast brass or just painted brass color? I'd think brass would add some weight to the revolver.

I have yet to see anything added (as after-market) to a 27 3/12 inch that makes it look any better than factory original......Of course, that opinion is before I ever actually get my hands on one of my own.
On your two choices Jim, add my vote to the brass column.

I had a brass colored one at one time and the color starts to wear off in a short while and, to my eye looks very unsightly. I got rid of it and will only buy the aluminum and black ones from now on.

Well, assuming that what poordevil writes doesn't happen, I'd go with the brass. I like the look. But if is going to wear off then go with black, I like that better on the black gun.
Nearly all of my revolvers wear a T grip or similar. When I'm home I'll pull some out and see which colors (black or silver - I have no brass tone Ts) I put on which guns. I do like that brass look....

Hi:
I vote for the silver Tyler as back "In The Day" silver ones are the only Tyler that I recall.

You can match or contrast colors. When you throw a new finish in the mix?????????? It just don't work

The "brass" ones now are made of solid manganese bronze and look like polished gold. My barbecue gun is an old factory nickel M&P that someone had the hammer, trigger, and cylinder latch gold plated on. It really looks great with real stags and a bronze T-grip. Shoots good, too.

I bought my first one, mail order, from Melvin Tyler in 1969. I don't know when he started making them.

Now for the undecided.........I see Birchwood-Casey offers a product called "Brass Black", but , I do not know why. I thought people got brass objects because they like..........brass?

Ha..I will tell my wife your compliment...She keeps it Really nice and tidy...I have to wait till she is watching TV or at work to sneak my guns on the counter to take pics....LOL
I used to take em all outside, but that Granite counter top just works in my opinion...I need to find a way now to get the background out..You know the towels and stove...etc..

Brass for me, though I would also make the addition of a nice set of maple or maybe stag, magna or service style stocks to really set it off. I know, I know, but I just despise factory S&W grips and that ridiculous deep groove around the checkering.

I agree...Im working on a set of Ivory Diamond Magnas....For one of my Nicer Blued 3.5's...This one gets to keep the Diamond magnas and I will treat her brother to the Ivories...Stags wouldnt be bad either...Like a BONEHEAD i sold a set of stags awhile back and Now I regret the heck out of it...

I was all set to vote for the silver ones... until I saw the bronze. It looks great on the blued gun. Of course, on this forum, the right answer is both! I endorse the nickel pre-27 idea, especially with real ivory stocks and silver Tyler T.
I seem to recall there being some issues with new Tyler Ts. Has that all been laid to rest?

I kinda like the brass more. But honestly I don't care much for either, but that's just me. I think it's fine without the t grip.
