Default Period correct box

Does having a gun in a period correct box (not original) add to the value of a gun?

Thanks
Wingmaster

It does to me. Maybe not as much as the original box but a nice addition.

How much would a good condition box add to the value?

Depends on vintage of the box and condition. Some boxes are worth $25..... Some $250 or more.

Add A nice shape Gold Box to a pre 27 3.5 inch and you could increase value as much as 3-400 bucks..

depends vastly on the gun. on registered 357 it would add a lot. a period box for a model 10, not a whole lot

Just saw a pre M17 gold box go for over $350 on ebay. There is a big demand for those. Another box bringing a big premium is the nicer early M53-0 boxes and the blue boxes for the M48-0. The box and tools will bring a substantial premium on certain guns, especially the early K22 Outdoorsman and second model K22. Rare !!! Big Larry

A mismatched box will add the price of the box to the package.A rare box for a rare gun will add a lot more than the sum of the parts.

I wouldn't pay more for the package if the box is not original to the gun
