Opinion on Model 27-2 5" Nickel
I want to know what you guys think about a Nickel Model 27-2 5" barrel with no box or papers for $875? Looks to be 95%+ with original stocks made in 1980, P&R. The other question I have is, I recently purchased an unfired 27-5 with box, tools and papers for 700 plus tax, and if I were to buy this guy, I would have to sell the blued one. It is no longer unfired though, I've shot 100 rounds through it. What would you do? Is it worth the hassle? How much more is the -2 worth than mine? How much could I sell mine for?
Thanks!

I think the 27-2 is overpriced, but not by a large amount. You didn't mention what barrel length your 27-5 has, but if you like it I would be inclined to keep it and shoot it often .

They are both 5 inch barrels. I really like that size on the 27

You don't say where in VA you are, but I think you got a steal on the 27-5, and I'd not have shot it if I'd been you. But $875 wouldn't be a bad price for the nickel gun in MD or NOVA. Check out the going prices at the next Chantilly show and you'll see.

I.A.W. the SCSW the 5" barrel was discontinued in 1979. So you may have lucked out on the 5" barrel on a 1980 gun as the 5" barrels were used up.

I'm in NOVA and I actually am planning on going to the next gun show. But more for accessories and ammo. And to look at guns I can't afford. Gun prices suck there.

I've found it's variable. Generally you're right, prices suck, but I've occasionally run into some bargains. I could kick myself for not buying one of the $450 M28s I saw a couple of years ago. I'm going to the February show for mags and to look for nickel K-frames.

Not to try and hijack the thread but I'm looking at something similar and was wondering if I might be able to spare everyone an extra thread. What sort of value would you guys put on a (1974) 27-2 blued 8 3/8 barrel. Condition is good with a little scrubbing on the trigger guard maybe say 90-95% overall. Good timing and locks tight. No box or paperwork and it doesn't have the wood grips. I'm looking for a shooter not a safe queen so the setup and condition works for me. But how do you value something like this? Thanks

Again, worksjo, I don't know where you are, but for what you describe, I'm just about with Dillyp, maybe $50 higher. The lack of wood grips knocks off about $100, and the 8 3/8" barrel guns bring less, in my experience, although my experience isn't wide enough to say just how much less, on average.

Thanks,
Ya that's kind of where I was thinking too. Normally I am a Colt guy so I am prone to over paying for things .
The guy is at $550 firm which sounded pretty good. It's just not the barrel length I wanted so I feel like it needs to be a steal to go with the 8 3/8. I tried him at $500 and it was a NO .
