Default Model 27 in 3-1/2 prices

I am seeing a lot of 27s in 3-1/2 sell for what I consider big money. For example at a gun show a few weeks ago I saw one change hands for $1700 and on Gun Broker a brand new in the box for $1950. I would think that these would be Pre 27 prices. I guess the question is have we reached another level in the market or is what I am seeing extreme cases?

I think we've reached another level like you said. I've seen beat up ones go for $1000, as well as 95%+ go for no less than $1300. Especially the later ones with the 3 T's.

I would say if you want one. Ya better get one now. They have doubled in price over the last 2 years.

Finest Revolver on the planet in my opinion

I think the higher prices brought some out of the safes and closets the last couple of years, but now it seems to be slowing down some, as getting hard to find the minty/LNIB ones. Got a feeling prices are going to keep rising. I know I won't be selling any of mine soon. The last few years they have been way better than money in the bank ( 1% interest )

I understand that the whole revolver market has been on an up tick. 6" guns seem to be moving up too but the 3-1/2" just seems to be heading into a price bracket that is out of reach quickly. Will we see the $2500 mark soon?

I think a NIB Pre 27 would command up to 3 grand plus if it was pristine...Maybe more...

There are some folks out there that are not afraid to spent money on what they want. Super cars going for multi millions (Saleen, Lambo, Bugatti,,,), trips into space,,, was in a house that was almost 8,000 sq feet, the owners were a man and his wife with 3 little ankle biting dogs, had a 71 Hemi Cuda in the garage. In the grand scheme of things, a 3 1/2" pre 27 for $2,000,,, they ain't EVER going to make any more and their numbers are finite.

As far as function yes, as to finish, no. As good as 28's are they do not compare to the beauty of a 27.

I'm disappointed to see the prices going up. I bought mine in 2006 for $350. I'm sure it was a $6-700 gun back then.

I'd like to get a nickeled 27 as a companion gun, and I know I should act quickly. I get worried that the prices could shoot up into the Python realm - where prices that used to be reserved for Registered Magnums are suddenly the norm.

That's really nice. I'd also like mine to have "A.P.D." stamped on it!

I am going to have to search for a deal. The 3-1/2 is a must have just can't get over the prices. Live and learn. It always happens this way. Just about the time I'm interested in a particular Smith the market makes an up swing. I have to say it is one of the best looking Smiths ever!

Not just 3.5 inch 27's. I noticed that all pre lock/mim. 4 inch or shorter N frames went up in price in the last few years. Much , much better prices are being seen on longer barrel revolvers.
