Help me date a 27-2 for a friend
Hi All,
My friend Aaron recently picked up a beautiful 27-2 6" for a crazy low price. It looks to be all original, bluing is excellent with just a slight turn line on the cylinder and a bit of wear on the muzzle end from holster. Timing and lockup is perfect, virtually no end shake and the bore and cylinder bores look like new. Serial # is N-231XXX. My guess is around 1975 but will ask the experts here. I don't have any pictures of it but it
is in fine shape and I already offered him $200 more than he paid for it, but he has an idea it's worth way more than that!
($500). Also would like to know what you all think it might be worth. Also forgot to mention that the stocks are near perfect too. Pinned barrel, red ramp front sight.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Between 1974 and 1977. I'd guess 1975. Per the SCSW.

I'd say 1975 or 1976.

Why doesn't your friend date her himself? He could start by sending her chocolate-covered cartridges . . .
And some strawberry scented Hoppe's . . .
Okay. I'll stop. Sorry.

Buy it. Then post pictures. I love spending other peoples money. The 27-2 in the condition you stated should be a nice piece.

I agree. I don't think five bills is out of line at all for a nice 27-2.

If he would have taken the $500 I offered it would already be in my safe! (My 629-3-6" is lonely and needs a companion). LOL
I've been checking Gunbroker and Gunsamerica and the prices on these are all over the place, but haven't seen any decent ones under $700. I guess I'll keep on breaking his chops and hope he caves in for a decent offer.

Ah! I misread your post. I thought $500 is what he was asking.
Stay after him . . .
