Default Model 60

Thanks to my brother who put me on to this Chief Special Stainless. It's a Model 60 "no dash". According to the SCSW it dates to 1969. When I asked about the condition of the gun my brother said it hadn't been fired much. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it to find it hadn't been fired at all. It appears to me to be ANIB. The box contained all the papers for the gun (warranty card, parts list, Smith & Wesson ammo and holsters). The only thing missing were the tools. Now to decide to keep it as is or shoot it. I like pictures here so I thought I would share my own.

Keith

I have a model 60 no dash, serial # R859**. 2'' Barrel, stainless steel.
I was told by the seller it is a Chiefs special. I'm not sure about that and I don't know the age of the wheel gun. Thoughts ? Thanks....

Mine is a 60-7 and one of my favorites. I'm of the mind that, if you buy it, shoot it. Why keep another "safe queen" so somebody else down the line can shoot and enjoy it. It's kind of like watching someone eating an ice cream cone. No enjoyment at all unless you have one too. Dumb analogy maybe, but it works for me. Just don't try shooting it while you're eating the ice cream.

It is rightly called a "Chiefs Special". Gotta love them model 60's.

Yes, the Model 60 is a Chief's Special. Simply the stainless version of the 36.

You can always dress it up a little, polished Tyler T and Patrick Grashorn grips (S&W member name Executioner).

Yours is a beauty also, you have good taste.

I could easily pick yours up by mistake if it didn't have the wood.

I absolutely would have to shoot and carry it. Regularly.

Default My Tow Model 60's (No Dash)

I carried a Model 60 for 15 years off-duty. It was and has been one of my favorite Smith&Wesson revolvers. I have two others left in my collection.

My EDC CCW since 1994. Had custom Ivory grips made a few years back - slightly thicker than Factory which has allowed me to "loose" the Tyler T. Goes with me daily and shoot it monthly but I keep it in good shape.
