Talking 2" Model 36-1? First J frame

I'd posted yesterday about a Model 36 serial discrepancy. The responses brought up some more questions on the 36-1 with serial # 6273xx.
Called the shop this morning and hand written on the original box is 36 with no dash on it and 2" barrel. The yoke clearly shows 36-1. I know that S&W's are known to have such mistakes and although I'm pretty sure the 36 and 36-1's share the same frame with different barrels, I was wondering if this might add to the value a little bit? It's appears lightly fired with a slight turn ring.

Edited 4-14-14

Got her out of jail today and looks better than she did 10 days ago. Don't think my addiction will switch to J frames, but I think this is a good first representation.

No. A miss-marked yoke (wrong model number) does not constitute a "rarity" for pricing purposes. Revolvers are not stamps or coins. These things happen from time to time and serious collectors, knowing this, shrug.
Just enjoy your nice J frame revolver, being aware that it is actually a no-dash Model 36, despite what is stamped in the yoke cut.

I agree with JP@AK mismarked revolvers do not warrant a premium and sometimes maybe a bit less,
the problem is the 36 and 36-1 did not have identicle frames ( like the Model 17 and 18 frames are different to meet the wider barrel rib).

So unless you can prove the gun left the factory mismarked with a letter the prospective buyer does not know if someone swapped a 2" barrel onto a 36-1 frame .

Post a few pics so we can determine if its a 36-1 frame or mismarked 36
here is a comparison of the frame and barrel rib differences.

Thanks for the info. and pix Engine49. I was hoping that the correct serial numbered box showing barrel length would be enough to show it's not a re-barrel so that I wouldn't have to letter a relatively inexpensive piece.
Meanwhile, I'll try to visit it in jail on Monday, CA 10 day wait, to examine it more closely and take a few pix.

Default Great photo

Engine49guy that is a great side by side photo of the 2 barrels. Looks to be a big difference. Is the one on the left what they call a "heavy barrel"
