Price check 19-4
Got some pics the other day of a 19-4 6" blue patridge front sight with original grips ,box and docs, looks like its in excellent condition . Definitely fired but judging by the pics a strong 98%. The guy wants $650 . I sent him an offer of $500 but he hasn't got back to me. I think $500 is a fair price. Don't see as many 6" 19's as I do the 4" not sure if the 6" is worth more. I bought a beautiful 19-3 from a lgs last month for $475.

Frankly, and no disrespect intended, but I would consider a $500 offer on a gun listed at $650 as insulting and would not likely respond at all. Now I am not sure that the 6in M19s have reached the $650-700 range yet, but I think they will soon, and in many cases, a 4in. in that condition would be snapped up at $650 or even more within a few minutes. That $475 M19-3 was not something you will see very often in 98% condition IMO.

New York Minute.
In the greater Kansas City area a model 19 as you describe would be gone in a New York minute with no haggling at $650. If it had the 3-T's (target grips, target trigger, and target hammer) it would it would be gone even sooner. The main problem around here is it would be easier to find Bigfoot than a pristine model 19, either 4" or 6", much less with box and docs. Over the past year I recall only 4 model 19's show up at any LGS, pawn shops, Cabelas, or gun shows and the last one I ran across was $850 firm in about low to mid 90's % condition with no box or docs but it has sat on the shelf. A pristine non-pinned/non-recessed 19 with no box or docs and only target grips sold for $700 at a gun show a year ago. A 4" in 75% condition with no T's sold for $400. I do not remember the price or fate of the fourth one but it was not in very good condition. In addition it looks like a 19 as you describe would easily sell for $650 on the major on-line gun auction sites.

You lowballed him though personally I wouldn't find your offer insulting; maybe he did, maybe he's mulling it over, maybe he's gaming you or maybe he's busy with other things. Who knows...
Assuming your 98% guess is correct and applies both cosmetically and mechanically, $650 is a reasonable price for a 6" Model 19-4, gun alone; all original grips, box, tools and docs makes his asking price a good deal in the current market.
The 6" 19s tend to get a little less cash than their 4" brothers, the 2.5" gets more still, and the ultra rare 3" gets rarefied financial treatment.
Your recently acquired $475 19-3 does not reflect the current average, assuming NRA "very good" or better condition.

Sold mine 19-4 6" nickel about a year ago for $450 or something like that. Shorter barrels always do better than the longer ones. If mine was a 4" I could have gotten a lot more.
