I have been going through my odd stuff that has be stored for who knows how long. Came across a sealed, in plastic, cleaning rod set, I guess you could call it. Probably came from on of my many N frame guns I have owned over the years. The copper bore brush and mop look to be right for a large bore revolver. The rod is aluminum with a loop on the end. There is also a flat piece of metal that can be used to adjust the sight. Two different sized ends. The adjustment tool is marked "SMITH & WESSON, SINCE 1852" on one side and "FOR SIGHT ADJUSTMENT ONLY" on the other.

Anyone recognize this set? Thanks

Used to be standard cleaning kit with S&W ; brush, rod, mop, & sight adjustment tool.

They come up for sale at times on eBay.

The "sight adjustment tool" narrows the time window though, right? They came with screwdrivers first. Can't say I ever bought one new with the sight tool, and I stopped buying them new in the late 80s.

1988-1991 Flat steel four-bladed design (for a keychain) with a central lighter color steel (?stainless steel?) round shape with 4 fixed blades coming off the round central portion of the tool.

1991 - onwards Flat steel two-bladed design (for a keychain) with a darker blued steel color with an oblong oval design with two blades - each blade coming of the narrower ends of the oblong oval.
