While trying to work a deal on a well worn 66-1 (which fell through), this 18-3 was offered as sort of... a consolation prize. Well, after cleaning and shooting her, there is no consoling necessary. I am very happy to add this to my collection of shooters.
Maybe not the best deal, but I didn't get raked over the coals either at $450. Some finish wear from holster carry, but the bore and cylinder chambers are like new. Trigger pull (DA and SA) is exactly what you would expect from an older S&W.
I believe it be an early to mid seventies production. If anyone can provide more info or nail down its production date a little closer, I would be happy to know it. Serial # 6K24XXX

Thanks guys. I couldn't really afford it, but I couldn't resist a classic Smith at a decent price either. I guess I'll just have to eat less for the next few weeks. :D
Three revolvers in as many months... "My name is Owly, and I'm an addict"

I think you'll like that a lot. I bought one last weekend in the 5KXXXX SN range which I think is 1974 like yours and in roughly the same condition. Paid a little more than you did though. Best part is I took it to the range this week and was very pleased with how it shot. First ten shots all went in to the center ring at ten yards; which doesn't happen to me all that often. Enjoy!

The M18 is a GREAT gun - congrats! I've got 2 of them and they are great shooters and incredibly accurate. Now you can join the rest of us on the never ending hunt for .22 LR ammo...........

They never come up for sale around here because everyone ALWAYS needs a good 22 revolver. You have one of the best...enjoy. And for $450? Add $150 or $200 to that price in MO.
