M 10-7 Pinned, Nickel Tyler grip
Not usually a fan of Nickel but saw this at the LGS and guess it followed me home. Never had a Tylet T grip either. Grips (stocks) number match.
The serial number and dash 7 places it at around 1976-7
Serial # 8D92xxx. What does the 8 mean? In the SCOS&W it shows serial starting with D but I can not find 8 ???
Anyway, here it is, The swirls are paste polish.

That is a nice looking revolver. Where I grew up (DeKalb county, GA) everybody knew shiny guns hit harder. I like nickel myself, though I only have two now.

I've always heard that too, so it must be true!
The other one was, "Bad guys are especially afraid of nickel plated, pump shotguns because of the sound they make when racked and the fact that they too hit harder cause they're nickel. So there must be some truth about nickel plated guns. Supposedly chrome hits a little harder but doesn't hold up as well. I'm not sure I believe that one though!

It means they made a BUNCH of Model 10's before & after yours came along! Prior to the D prefix it was C. When that reached C999999 they started with the D prefix. When they reached D999999, instead of changing to E or another letter, they went to 1D999999, then to 2D and so on. Eventually they changed to a three letter four digit system, like AAA0001 and so on. Check your book again, it is explained and easy to decipher. HTH

Ah yes. Just like the reloading section, why read the manual when one can ask on the forum
Yes on page 399 under the 2D-17D prefixes. (I missed the 17 ending)
So by that, the gun would actually be a 1981.
Thanks!

Never had a Tyler T grip either.

I think you will like it. Originally, I put target stocks on everything because I liked the way they fit my hand. But they are a bit bulky on a snub nose.
So I bought some Tylers and they are a big improvement over just the standard stocks, without the bulk.

I also have a nickel 10-7 snubby sporting a Tyler T Grip, but with a round butt. My favorite carry piece.

Your 10-7 looks exactly like my nickel 2" 10-5. Right down to the polished Tyler. I bought mine new in 1970 and will never get rid of it.
