Default M15 refinishing

I have a M15 with 2" barrel .38 spl serial nbr K964069 (1970) with an original blue finish. I would like to have it nickel plated like S & W does.
I thought that I read Smith was not servicing "K" models anymore. Is this true? If Smith would nickel it should that be my first choice ?
If not where else could I get it nickeled like Smith does and be assured it's a good job?
