Default Dates of Manufacture

Greetings Everyone,
I just signed up on this Forum and this is my first posting. You probably get hundreds of requests like this, but I would like to know the dates of manufacture for two incredible revolvers I recently bought. They are the most accurate I have ever shot, and the triggers defy description. They both have 6" barrels. The 22 is model 17-3, serial number 1K91914. The 38 Special is model 14-3, serial number 1K41772. I call them the Smith Brothers. That is all I shoot now when I go target shooting because nothing else is as accurate.
Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards,
Joe R. in Vermont

Smile Thanks!!!

Hello Bob,
Thanks a million for the info. Who would have thunk it!!! They both were made in the same year, 1971. I bought them from different shops, one month apart. Here's another amazing coincidence. When I was living in South Carolina, I bought my first Smith & Wesson. It was a model 14-3. The year.....1971 I sold the gun before I moved away, about 30 years ago. I forgot how wonderful these Smith Brothers shoot. The trigger on the 17-3 is the lightest I've ever seen on a 22. It's WAY better than my Ruger semi. From a sandbag rest, it groups into 1/2" with match long rifle ammo at 50 feet. That is amazing.
Very best regards,
Joe

Just to be clear, S&W records a guns date of shipment, not the actual date of manufacture. Anyway, they are great guns and a joy to shoot.
