Came across a nice 15-3 today
So I brought it home. It belonged to a guy who was a Jicarilla Apache police officer in the 70s and 80s, did the rodeo circuit, and now sits on the tribal council. Its in great shape for an old duty gun:
It had some pretty raggedy non-correct targets on it - I think these PC magnas look fine.
It has a target trigger and target hammer, the CCH colors are still good, and the action is smooth. 6K serial number puts it being born in 1974. What more could a guy want?
Well, maybe the nail polish will have to go:
I was reading some older posts about Model 15s today. In one from only three years ago a fella was warned that $349 was about $200 TOO HIGH for a nice 4" Model 15. I think I'd hurt myself lunging for a $349 Combat Masterpiece these days. I paid a little more than that, but not much, for this one.

That is a fine piece. I just don't see the heavy use/wear. Now, how does it shoot? Range report is required. If it is anything like my -3's it will be a tack driver.

I'd leave the nail polish on. It's a period-correct cop thing. IMO, it's a very useful thing to do, but doesn't always work at high noon on the range. I do it to many of my guns.

I found one of those myself a little over a month ago. Shooting it is pure pleasure. Enjoy yours!

Congratulations,
That was a fine pick-up and I really like the Jicarilla tribal connection. I don't have a Md. 15, but I will. I've had two chances recently on two superb Md 15s in a LGS. However, both times the store had another gun that I wanted just a little bit more. Then when I go back to buy............GONE! That WON'T happen again. I'm gonna use Lay-a-Way!

A nice find indeed! You did ok on that one, the days of cheap prices on K frames are coming to an end. It seem that the dash three is all they sold around here, at least that's all I find, have two of them and they are great revolvers. Enjoy that one!

Thats a good price. My 15-3 came with a $400 price tag. I jumped on it, here in Midwest that's a standard going price on any basic revolver, to get a 15-3 was a God send. It's not perfect in appearance but it really shines on the range. I've had several offers, but I think it's a keeper.
