s&w 27-2 info
I am going to pick up a 27-2 that quite a bit of blue finish loss. This model is a little older than the models I normally collect. Any insight as to the value on this? Anything I should look out for on this model?

A lot of factors come in to play here. Impossible to place value without pictures. How long is the barrel, does it come with original box with tools?

I agree the price can range all over the place and the shorter the barrel the more it's worth.

As well, "quite a bit of blue finish loss" is going to have an impact on what it sells for, depending on exactly what that means.
Is there rust present? Just honest wear?
Your post says you are going to pick it up. So you have bought it?

Condition is king.
Sounds like it's dethrowned.
Short barrel length is most sought after. A 3.5" gun is sexy and everybody wants you. A 6" is most common and prices reflect this.
No way to value a gun without much, much more info than what has been provided. Even with a full description and photos all we can do is guess.

Ok, there is no rust but it will have to be reblued. Whoever had it last polished ALL THE BLUE OFF FOR SOME REASON. It has the 8 inch something length barrel

My general rule of thumb is that any N-Frame in good working order is worth $500. But I would try to get that one for less, since someone has removed all the finish. I hope all the markings are reasonably intact. A professional refinish is not cheap, and then there is the shipping both ways to consider.
Last but not least, the ones with the 8-3/8 inch barrel usually sell for less than the shorter versions.
