I traded a 1911 i had yesterday for a 29-2 Nickel and my first L frame 586 No Dash. The 29-2 came with the original box, paperwork, and tool kit. I just need to get the box relined and i heard there is a member that does an excellent job. Both guns are in 98% plus condition and the nickel really pops after a coat of Renaissance Wax. The 29-2 is pictured with my 27-2 8 3/8 Nickel. I only owned Dan Wesson revolvers up until 2 months ago. I now have a 29-2 blued, 29-2 Nickel, a 27-2, and the 586 No Dash!
I think that you did really well on that deal. I would have gone with the two wheel guns too. It's all about perspective isn't it? What some find little value in others appraise highly. Strange world.
Congratulations.

The OP and I are going in opposite directions: I sold a pre 16 (I had two) so I could buy a Wilson Combat 1911 and now am thinking of getting rid of my 4" nickel 29-2 to buy another 1911.
I would say you did very well. Had the 1911 been a full custom or a very nice semi custom it would be a different story but the deal you made was heavily lopsided in your favor. Hope the other party really loves the 1911
