Mod. 66 always shoots low ????
Have numerous k frames and of course they all shoot great. Recently I acquired a 66 - 1, 4 inch that seems to always want to shoot low. At 10 yds. it shoots very nice groups always about 2 inches low. I have raised the rear sight the maximum travel. Shooting 38 special 3.5 gr 231 behind 158 gr swc. This is my target load for all of my k frames. I shoot 6 o'clock p.o.a. Ideas appreciated.

Change to a taller rear blade or aim for the center instead of 6 o'clock. Does it hit in the same place with 357mag loads?

Are the grips on the "new" 66 different than all the others? Are the sights different- WO vs flat black? Are you shooting off a rest? Group size? Consistent? Have you tried other proven loads? Be Safe,

Measure the height of the rear sight blade and order one taller. Or maybe more than one. Fortunately, you have that option. I have a .45 Colt that shoots high with the rear sight blade bottomed out. Not enough adjustment available in sight blades to totally correct it. Besides I don't like the short blades as it makes the sight picture kinda thin.

over the years ALL of our 19's or 66's shot that way, just remember to change "hold" ( sight picture ), and which bullets you are using.......FASTER and light, shoot LOW, heavier or W/C target rounds shot higher, at least for me.....................I know that magnums take a bit LONGER ( further out) to reach their 'trajectory' arc...so same hold at different distances can and will vary..........I would much rather KNOW what is shooting where and how before changing or modifying the sights. Guess thats why so may old timers like to call it kentucky windage, even though elevation is involved....

Just for fun, have one of your shooting buddies shoot it -get the same results??? I would do this before anything else that you may not need. See attached pic for sight adjustments. Bob

Definitely have a friend shoot it and see if he gets similar groups.
There are so many variations to work through.
But use your standard loads in .38spcl and .357 mag that you know works well in other guns.
Then try this.
Don't use a target. Use a paper plate.
Shoot a round anywhere on the paper plate. with your next 4 or 5 shots (I shoot 5 at a time, some people shoot 6 at a time) chase the initial shot and see how close your groups are.
You can do it with a target, but take that equation out for a moment.
Again, get a shot on paper, and then try to hit that first shot. Chasing the group my friend calls it.
If you are still off, then there will be some other things to tr and trouble shoot.

Your load is not very heavy. Try some factory 158 grain .357 loads and I will wager they shoot right to the center at 25 yards.

Since you got the good ones already, I'll throw out something else. Maybe your gun was owned by Lewis Grizzard.

Hmmm, never saw a K frame that only shot minute-of-Shetland Pony.

Measure your sight blades. I believe the rear should be .146 and front .385 for the K frames. Perhaps the rear was changed as they were sometimes damaged during rough carry like duty use. I always adjusted my sights for 6 o'clock hold with the 148 grain WC's we qualified with, and this would give me a center hold POA with our 125 grain magnum duty round.
