Please Help!! - I lost the screws to my 17-2
I'm in the middle of a muti-day rebluing project and being a dunderhead I can't find the baggie I kept the screws to the cylinder release and the side plate.
How can they be replaced?
I'm turning the house inside out. It must be evil elves - from Ruger.
PS - the bluing looks good, when I get it back together I will post up photos.
Thanks for your help,
Dunderhead Frank

They can be replaced but since this is a 17-2 it's an older revolver and likely to need screws of the correct vintage. With that in mind I would suggest an actual telephone call to Numrich's. While they are excellent at stocking items like this their web pages are as non informative as is possible and just ordering over the Net will likely lead you to receiving screws for a current production model 17.

I'll second making a call to Jack First. They're helpful in addition to being a reliable source for "obsolete" S&W parts.

I needed some side plate screws (always get buggered) from S&W. They were immediately back ordered but I eventually got [I]most[I] of the order. Some are still on back order. I think they sub-contract things like these small parts and need a minimum number to push the order. That's just my opinion. If you have lots of time place the order with S&W.
Just an aside; try finding a detent and spring for a colt 380 thumb safety. Dust bunnies eventually eat them in the kitchen corner.

the best way to find them is to purchase replacements. Jack First in Rapid City, SD is the first place I would call.

Check one of the major online auction sites for item #121355670599. It's a set of the three sideplate screws that you're looking for. I know nothing about the quality of these screws, it seems to be a private party that is making them to fill in the gap left by the factory never having them in stock.
