Looking for shipping date on older 36
I have had this 36 a few years. It's in great shape. Have never searched the date of shipping on it. Any help is appreciated. 244971 is serial number.

Agree with 824tsv on the ship year. The stocks on this one are from a later gun (1967 to late '80s). Enjoy!

The guy had taken the stocks off some of his guns. His cousin got to them and took a bunch not paying the wife or telling her what he took. I think he got the grips mixed up and put them on the wrong guns.

I don't see it either. That sure is a beautiful 'flat latch' 36. Too bad it doesn't have the correct diamond grips. Hope you can get the right s/n'd grips back on them.

The cousin that took the other guns likely sold them so doubt they will ever be recovered.

That's a shame
It still is one beautiful 36 though. Ebay has original diamond grips for sale if you ever wanted to bring the 36 back to its original configuration.

Thanks. Is 61 the most likely shipping date? Somehow the serial was not in the post. All I can tell is anywhere from 57-61.

That sounds about right,but the only way to know for sure would be through a factory letter.I think they cost $50 and there is a backlog of several months right now.

Agreed! My sources show s/n range of the 36 is
1957 = 117770 - 125000
1962 = starts at 295000
1969 = ends at 786544
Extrapolate and it is probably a 1961 manufacture or a little earlier in 1960. If that isn't close enough then that factory letter should nail it for you. Good Luck with those grips, in my humble opinion the diamonds grips are just that "diamonds" and will make your flat latch look just like the day it was made.
