Default Terrier

Hi guys,
I was told that if I contacted the "Revolver" forum, I could get the history of an old family possesion. I have an s&w Terrier 38
with a 2 inch barrel. Model 32-1 serial #R64184. I was curius of it's age, and approximate value. The finish is blue (and looks pretty good to me). Front sight is a ramp, and have reason to believe it is a "J" frame.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Probably dates from 1973. The 32-1 was, indeed, a J frame revolver. In 1961, S&W discontinued using the I frame and converted all remaining I frame guns, including the Model 32, to the J frame. The model number was changed to -1 to indicate this.
Can't help on the value, but someone will be along with an opinion soon, I'm sure.

You do understand the gun is in 38 S&W and not 38 Special.

I have your gun's granddaddy...
