Model 31-1
Don't see much about the revolvers... Picked this one up for $150.00 yesterday from the serial number 715XX.. I think it's CIRCA 1969 all matching numbers including stocks....Is there any other information available on these guns and your thoughts about them...Thanks

I do not have my SCSW with me, but the flat latch cylinder release was deleted in 1966 and the diamond stocks in 1968. They are fine shooting guns.

I was out shooting mine today at the range. I bought mine on the advice of folks here on the forum and have no regrets. When out shooting with friends they are always amazed at how well it shoots for a such a short barrel and fixed sites. It is a lot of fun to shoot and the light recoil means you can shoot it all day long and not fell it later.
I wish I had purchased mine as cheaply as yours, that is a heck of a good price.

No too many guns like that get bought for a buck and a half these days. Nice!

Blanda1:
That is one killer of a deal. If it were me, I'd contact a really top notch gunsmith, like Hamilton Bowen - for example, and see if the cylinder can be bored out to accommodate the .32 H&R Magnum. If it can be bored out at a reasonable cost, it would give you the next step up in the .32 caliber department. You'd still be able to shoot .32 Long, and now .32 H&R Magnum, as well. Yeah, it would be really great if the cylinder could be bored out to .327 Federal, but I seriously doubt that could be done. Congratulations on a really great buy.
Regards,
Dave

If the serial number is 715XXX I would estimate it's closer to circa 1962 based on two known ship dates . . . 755XXX shipped in August 1965 and 766XXX in May 1966.
The 31-1 is a great .32 S&W Long revolver . . . congratulations.
