Factory J Frame Target stocks
Would people want these these?
I can pick up 6 or 7 sets of J Frame Goncalo Alves Target Stocks with the football cut outs and medallions.
I usually see Magnas on these type guns, but I saw 6 or 7 sets of the Target stocks today.
Are these stocks that people typically look for?

I'd like some if the price is right. Got some J frames that need grips.

yes you should pick them up.
They are no longer made and needed by many to put the gun back to as it came

These are the style I like and fit my hand nice.
The other kind some people call banana style and are very curved in shape. Not as popular i believe.

I would like a pair of the smooth, non-checkered ones.

They were exactly like the ones all the way to the left.
What are they worth, like $70 a pair?

They can be all over the place in pricing. 35-100 bucks. Mostly depending on wood type, condition and if they have been refinished. Check ebay time to time ,there is usually a pair or so for sale.

The round butt bananas may not be as popular, but I really like them! Bob

I've got one pair of the standard J-frame targets with checkering... and I don't even own a J-frame! They also work well on my beloved I-frames and both look and feel good (to me, at least) on the old pre-War Heavy Frame Targets (22 LR.) I'm not sure I would PAY $70 each for a bulk buy since they are nowhere near as popular as their larger K- and N-frame brethren, but I would be likely to pay $70 for a good set if I needed a single set. This is JMHO, of course, and YMMV!

J frame target
I for one would like to have a pair. I have some banana grips on my 3" 63-5. They actually came with a 5" 63-4, but they made the revolver to muzzle heavy. A set of the targets would work perfectly with my 5" 63.

And since I couldn't find any target stocks when I was looking for my 5" 63 I went with these from Kelly arms. They were a nice fit and my daughters find that type of grip easier to shoot a j frame

The last pair I got (about 1 1/2 yrs. ago ) was $30.00. The smooth ones I have seen sell on this forum for around $50.00.

dc - I was thinking about picking them up and then re-selling them here.
They are J-Frame Square Butt Targets. They will fit Round Butts too.
Net/net if I get them, I would have to re-sell them at like $45.00 or $50.00 shipped to make a couple of bucks on them.
I am not looking to make a mint, just a few bucks to put towards Christmas Presents for my kids and hook some fellow members up with some nice stocks.
I just don;t know if $45.00 or $50.00 is a reasonable asking price. The grips need to be cleaned up, but they were not used. It looks like they were taken right off and probably substituted for Pachs or Magnas.

50 should be doable. For ease, and a bit of insurance,it might be easiest to figure that a small, priority flat rate box is the way to send them.
Not that long ago, however,Midway has some new,old stock-in the package, and they were only around 45.I ordered two sets figuring one might not be acceptable-neither one floated my boat, and they went back.

Lots of people probably would, I'm sure.
I had one pair. Put them on a 36...didn't even put the screw in. Didn't like 'em. Made the gun nice to hold, but just totally wrecked the looks of the gun for me, plus making it more bulky.
I sold 'em soon as I could.

As has been said many people are looking for quality (factory) J frame grips. Those grips are great for Kitguns (34, 63) with 4" barrels but on 2" or 3" guns (37,60, etc) they tend to look too big and take away from the compactness of the small 38 Spl. JMHO.

Don't overlook the ones offered by Altamont Company either, as they are really nice grips too -- with S&W medallions as well.
Tight groups.

unfortunately, there were no J-Frame Diamond Target Grips like these. ( I've never seen a set of factory diamond targets for a J Frame). Some of the newere Retro type stocks look pretty good though.

Got these (like yours) on 4 of my J frame adj.sight snubs. Really like them over the itty bitty magnas.

I mean no offence, but I can't seem to warm up to bananas.
It looks like if you really grip them they will pop out of your hand like a bar of soap.

J-frame targets! Cool! I'd like a pair please, Tom_R (if it's not too forward to ask.)
PM me, please when you are going to put them up.
Thank you in advance!

I'm a big fan of the smooth Goncalo Alves Target Stocks on S&W revolvers. I like these on a 3" Model 31-1 square butt because they give a little more room at the bottom to get your pinky finger on and add a filler behind the trigger guard which I find more comfortable. I paid about $55 for these.

I like both styles of the factory stocks.
I also have a pair of uncheckered SB/RB stocks on a 31-1 and a set of checkered banana stocks that somehow wound up on my son's S&W 60. I have paid $25.00-$50.00 a pair for these stocks.
