Default Model 34-1 Kit Guns

I thought you might enjoy these. Two copies of the S & W .22/32 Kit Gun, Model 34-1, circa 1968, I think. Mint nickel with four-inch barrels, each in the original silver box, correctly labeled, with owner’s manual and tool kit in the original plastic bag. And, consecutive serial numbers!

Found recently in a local gun shop. One seems to be unfired, the other, maybe a few rounds. I have not had a .22-cal Smith before, so will do some shooting with that one to see what happens.

Yes Sir, very nice snag! I would like to find even one of those. Closest I have come is my nickeled 34-1 without box I found a few months ago. Thanks for posting those.

"I have not had a .22-cal Smith before, so will do some shooting with that one to see what happens."

A click, followed by a loud noise, a gentle push back into your palm and a small hole in the target downrange .

Nice find!

McShooty, don't wish to be rude but, if you're comfortable, could you tell us what you paid for them?

Thanks,

Rich

You will love shooting them. This is the 34-1 in blue.

And the Mod 63 (Stainless) version.

Nifty! Congratulations on those two. I always have mixed feelings about consecutively numbered guns - but it is fun to see them when someone else owns them.

You'll be pleased with the one you fire, if it is usual for its type. We've always been of the opinion that the little guns will shoot right along with a K22 (out to 25-yards anyway), but they are much harder to hold and squeeze, so it is rare that someone actually shoots them that well. Lacking a Ransom rest, I've no way to prove that. It is just an impression from years and years of shooting them. Good stocks always helped me, but it is tempting to leave the factory stocks on the gun if you are concerned about keeping the gun compact for easy carrying.

If I were going to actually shoot one of those, I would first go here.
Factory J Frame Target stocks
and talk nice. Even with the "big" stocks on, that would still be a small package, easy to manage and carry and lots of fun to shoot! JMHO, of course, and YMMV!

GREAT FIND! Enjoy shooting the one that has been used. I know that my 1969(?) 4" Model 34 is my very favorite .22 handgun. I've had it for almost 45 years, paid $85.00 for it!

Thanks for all the good comments, folks. I know that fate smiled on me with this one. Doesn't happen often. As far as cost, I will simply say that I paid about what average retail would be for the guns alone, without boxes or consec numbers. It was a good deal.

Now the next question, sir? after that score did you purchase any lottery tickets? I sincerely hope so, cause you were having a VERY lucky day!

FAB find, McShooty! Nice pics too. I'm jealous. Again. Been happenin' a lot lately.
Wow! People are just rackin' up incredibly good deals lately!
There's a handful of posters who really should be buyin' lottery tickets, given the luck they've had.

Great snag! I'm jealous.

Then again I scooped up a consecutive pair of 29-2's maybe eight years back for $600 each.

Unfired, in the blue boxes, smooth targets, combat trigger and YELLOW frt sight insert. A few years later a letter from Mr. Jinks stated those three options were special orders and factory correct.

You did very well. Enjoy a sweet pair of Kit Guns. Nice to find a real jem from time to time isn't it? LOL.

Unbelievable find! I can't show a matched pair in nickel, but how about one of each nickel and blue 34-1s?

Very nice. Congrats.
I've been thinking about a nice 4" 34-1 and 63-no dash.

Nice guns! I have but one Model 34-1. It's a pinned and recessed two-incher, with all the bells and whistles - red ramp, white outline, smooth stocks, and nickeled. There must have been a lot of options on these. This one was shipped in 1980.

John
