Another S&W in 27-2
I picked up another S&W pistol today, a Model 27-2 5" barrel for $550.00. Can some one tell me the manufacter date, ser.# N166192. Guy told me a gunsmith did a action job when in fact he backed off the main spring. Was dirty and abused but at a good home now. A little TLC and will be a good mate to my 5 screw 25 45 acp, Lew Horton 24-3 3" and my 24-3 4".

Congrats on the 27
It looks like the ship date should be 1973. The 27 is a top of the line handgun. Your 5 inch model is a great barrel length also. Well balanced and looks great.
Now tell us more about your gun. What sights, grips and how you found it. And we love pictures if you want to post them. I suggest a picture of the new 27 posing with the other hand cannons you listed. JA

Pics
Here are 2 pics. Has a little bluing rubbed off at the tip of the barrel and the sideplate is dis-colored under the grips. Standard trigger, hammer, and plain jane sights. But she's mine now.

Nice-lookin bunch, except for all those GoodYear grips:-)
I had a TC 7-30 once. It was fun for punching paper off the bench. But when a handgun is so muzzle-heavy I can't shoot it without a rest, I'll take a rifle or carbine.
