Default New in Box Model 66 (No Dash) goes for very Large Money

Definitely keep an eye on the Model 66:

They are rising steadily, and will continue to do so IMHO:

S & W 66 VERY EARLY MFG. SS SIGHTS PINNED NIB NR : Revolvers at GunBroker.com

This New in Box first run example is very nice and went for over $1700.

I am looking for one next year, but not for $1700!

Thought I'd pass this along.

I saw that gun. Saw where the bidding was heading, didn't even bother to throw my hat in that ring.

I don't think I bothered either, it was at $650 or so with 11 days to go. I thought it would go for $1000 - $1100. Never thought it would go for that much.

Unfortunately, now every nice 66 or 66-1 will have a $1000.00 reserve.

I think I may have missed my opportunity personally.

People pay a ridiculously large premium for guns from that seller, even for guns in similar visual and functional condition to guns sold by other high feedback dealers.

Tom_R, Yes, a high price. But take a look at completed sales for gundrc. He has sold some really great guns in the last month or two.

Yeah, They are really Willey Brothers from down in Willey Tennessee. IIRC

Look at what you are getting from that particular dealer. He has a collection from an estate with 40 years of collecting with many on the boxes just opened for the auction. And I don't think he is just blowing smoke out of his back side.

I got my gorgeous 19-3 4" from them a few weeks ago and got out at a fair price.

Then I won the bid on my 16-4 4" and paid top dollar but I was sure it had never been fired.

After getting a great 27-2 3.5" from tmichael and these two I think I am out of the market for the foreseeable future. Izz don shot me load!

But I'm a happy man.

Joe

Those are both sweet.

How is that Model 16? I am not familiar with them, or the cartridge for that matter, .32 Long or .32 Magnum, right?

How is it to shoot, and ballistically what can you approximate with that round?

I know people swear by 327 magnum, but I have never shot it.

Lots of money if you're a buyer or seller, I'm happy with my 66-1 I bought last month considerably less$ and I'm shooting it and enjoying it. I'm not a safe queen buyer. Each his own, each his own budget too
