Default Number On Crane Doesn't Match Serial Number On Grip Frame

I bought a used Model 66 (2.5" round butt frame, made in 1980), and didn't notice till I got it home that the number on the crane is entirely different from the serial number on the grip frame. Does this mean it's a replacement part? I paid a price you'd expect to pay for all original parts, i.e., $600.00.

Pull the grips again.
That yoke would NOT be serial numbered.
It has an assembly number.
The same number is likely on the left side of the grip frame at the bottom.
