would a 1978/79 4 in. nickel 19-4 originally come with pachmayr gripper pros?

I'm pretty sure a M19-4 would have come with S&W target grips.
I'm not sure if they would have been football or speedloader relief cut.

The pachs were aftermarket at that time. My belief is it would have come with Targets with the speed loader cut, as that variation was introduced mid-70s.

i figured they were aftermarket. they are in great shape and they kinda look good on a nickel frame. i will still look around for some wood stocks.

This one is a '78 and the stocks are original to the gun.

Back in those days about the first thing you did when you bought a Smith & Wesson or Colt revolver was take the factory stocks off and put on a set of Pachmayr or Hogue rubber grips. All the "cool kids" had them.

Every gun shop in town had a cardboard box full of wood grips behind the counter they couldn't give away.
