Default Model-28 Stainless Equivalent?

Could anybody advise me which S&W stainless model would be considered the nearest equivalent to a Model-28 Highway Patrolman in terms of looks in either 4" or 6" variety?

Thanks in advance, Lee

No such animal exists. 6 shot 627s all had heavy full lug barrels. Most were 5 1/2" with unfluted cylinders but a few only 5" and had flutes. 8 shot 627s that look like they have left over FL barrels with metal milled off their sides and/or bottoms are abundant. The 28's taperd 1950s style barrel profile has not been used on 627s. Why not shop for an old 28 that someone had refinished with a very thin frosted chrome like Armoly? They look so much like stainless that threads claiming one is stainless are a regular side show here.

Thanks guys. I see that a S&W 624 gives you the fluted barrel and similar looks, but that only comes in .44 Special, not .357?

See you are in the UK..........

My thought is to find a good shooter grade and have it hard chromed..... it was a fairly big custom job here in the 1980s....... about $150 IIRC
