Fresh from FLA, and better than a box of oranges and grapefruits!
She probably froze her little square nickle butt off during the long ride from Naples.
At least now she'll be snuggy warm in my safe with her brethren J's!
This sweety came to me via a tip from fellow member Nick B.
Thanks, again for being Santa's helper, Nick!
Merry Christmas, early.

Very nice. Congratulations!! I had a chance to pick one up at a gun show a few years ago. I made my rounds and came back and it was gone. Oh well, it would just sit there in the box until I kick the bucket and the kids end up with it anyway.

Very purdy. I picked up it’s round butt sister (36-1) a little while ago. But mine cane with a holster instead of a box and it doesn’t look like it’s in NIB condition like yours.

Man that looks great. Not all nickel guns shine the way yours does.
Congratulations on a great pick up!

Serial's 74751. Hmmmmmm.
How does one pick up and move a whole thread?
She's got a ship date from 1955. She's too old to be here.

Thanks for the compliments, gang.
But seriously, how do you move a thread?
I feel I've transgressed!

Hey, Shorty 45 MK2. I've done just that.
She looked so young!
Nick B, she's better in person! The pics Michael sent were great, but
after a wipedown, man, she nearly hurt my eyes.

Nice gun!
That doesn't look like a mid-1950's gun to me, it looks more like a Model 36-1 heavy barrel. Before I move this thread, let's get a little more info. Model numbers weren't introduced until 1957. Show us a photo of the serial number on the butt and see if there's a model marking in the frame cut under the yoke (i.e. MOD 36-1).
Your box is correct for a Nickel gun, but it's marked Bangor Punta. That dates it from the mid-1960's to the mid-1980's. The parts list also shows a model number. Those boxes had a 1955 date inside the lid, but it has nothing to do with the date of manufacture. The grips are post 1968 and the front sight makes me think that's a heavy barrel, which wasn't introduced until 1967.
It's a great gun, but I doubt it's as old as you're thinking and I have doubts about the serial number quoted.

OK, S&Wchad. Will go info hunting. J559979. You're correct. '76 if not close to it.
Soooo excited to have her, I didn't check the butt, just the paperwork. My bad. My lesson.
Have to ask for some corrections to be made.

That makes more sense. Don't feel bad; I'd be excited too.
Almost 40 years old and as crisp as they come... Great gun!

ISIS, you've done it again! What a beauty! A 3" is my favorite J, and in nickel flavor to boot! What are you going to do to top that? Bob
