Default New 14-3 - almost

I posted a couple weeks back about a 14-3 I planed to buy from a private party.

Turns out the gun was stolen. The seller (who I had never met before) didn't know that was the case (and I believe him), but the local PD ended up with the gun.

So much for having a 14-3.

Better finding out now. If the police confiscated it from you, the financial loss would be yours.

Well, not to worry, there are lots of them out there for sale. You will find another easily enough. Once you have one, you will quickly realize it was worth the wait.

I'm curious...how did you find out it'd been stolen, and how did the previous owner end up owning it without knowing? Do private transfers in CA have to go through an FFL?

There are some reasonably priced out there. I picked up a 14-3 in August. (1977 ship) G.B. price was $410, shipped and insured. VERY nice. Great shooter too! (results may vary-disclaimer) Seek, and you will find! Bob
