In honor of 50 years of the .41 magnum, I picked up this model 57. It is has an s-prefix serial number. The question I have is it is not blued. It looks like a park finish. Did some come this way or is this revolver refinished. Thanks for any help.

I had a 6 1/2 inch nickel one, wish I still had it.
It was a great shooter, congratulations.

From what I can tell, it appears that you have a refinished gun.
Look closely at the sideplate joint......it should be a very fine line. Yours appears to have been removed during prep for refinish and buffed.

However, I am also a HUGE .41 fan and they all look good to me!
Congrats!

Judging by the hammer/trigger I'd say it's been parkerized after it left the factory. Nice looking though.

My "guess" is it is a refinish. As long as the internals are sound, take that sweetie for some trigger time. Great looking at any rate.

None were factory parkerized. Blued and nickel only. The hammer and trigger should be case hardened.
I like the park but just hope who ever did it, did so because the original finish was a basketcase. If it was factory nickel there will be an "N" stamped on the cylinder face and the left side of the grip frame. If it's not there the gun was originally blued.
It looks like an early one with the lazy ampersand on the barrel. What's the SN range?

I would bet that it started life with a different finish. But, it looks like they did a fine job.

That one would be a very "useful" woods revolver.

Is it parkerized or duracoat? Had a guy once insist that finish on his AK was parkerized. Looked like it until we took a knife and scraped a bit of finish from an inconspicuous area.
