MY new 1956 Chief Special - CHP Retired
After posting this in the other forum and seeing how much everyone liked it, I thought I'd share with you guys also.
Mr. Earl W. Crane was an original member of the California Highway Patrol, founded in 1929. He retired back in 1957.
This was his retiree gift.
It's now my Christmas gift, to myself!

Why can't I put the picture within my message?
When I click "insert image" it wants a link.
I have to add as an attachment.

What a phenomenal package. If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to be the current caretaker of that historic package?
That has my "cool" meter pegged!

Historic is right! And caretaker I am!
I found it on GB.
After a few days of searching, I found his son to have lived in the same exact city as the gun dealer that listed it.

I'd like to send it to the San Burr Gun Ranch and have it polished, but I could not send it anywhere.

That was, and still is a very special handgun. I'm sure there is a lot of history with officer Crane……a very nice package, thanks for sharing it with us.

Should I go and fire this gun? I don't shoot very many. I usually buy and then sell to make a few bucks, but this one's not bein' sold.
I plan on carrying it a few months or so while I'm in Fla over the Winter.
It has been carried already.
I wanna make sure it works and all, nothing wrong with shooting it,.... right?
Or, would you guys not even carry this?
I have a nice lambs wool lined holster that will keep it nice.
Opinions?

What impresses me more than even the revolver and the badge is the fact that in those days the paper, and the trooper, had no problem with naming his family members, and his home. I sure wish it was still like that now.

I thought the same exact thing. Doing research, I found him in the Phone Books with his address listed. Even says Police.
