Model 10-5 5" nickel plated 38 Detroit police
I'm wondering if anyone cares to help me identify the year of my new revolver I purchased. The model number is 2D79701, I'll post pics soon. Thanks in advance . Previous owner had no box or paperwork.

Checked out your pic's, yes Sir I like it! Is that a six incher or a five? I like the used ex LEO revolvers, who knows what it's user and it has seen during their tour of duty.

I had one of these not too long ago. I actually found it at a gunshow in Mississippi. I was told by one of the retired Detroit cops that these were issued at the academy and that most officers went to a .357 or something else when they graduated and hit the streets and a lot of these 10-5's went into a sock drawer or something similar, meaning there are quite a few out there still in good condition. I sold mine to a retired Detroit cop and am happy it went home.

It's a 5" barrel a lil more rare than the 4" or 6". I polished that beautiful gun an hour and half to get in top shape! Glad you enjoy the pics and thanks for input .

Just trying to help.
Right click on the image then copy the URL, in the tool menu of post reply click the yellowish square box hat says insert image when you scroll over it, then paste the image there.

Well duh, the barrel length was in post title, sorta missed it! I really like the five inchers, when I feel the need to shoot a good group I grab my old mid 50's five inch M&P to make me feel good. Enjoy that one!

Whew! I could barely stand to quote that. I hope you wore rubber gloves. I think if someone sold me a gun with snot in it or on it, I'd be really really really mad.
