Magna grips
just a question: Model 17-2 (1962) and K - 22 have the same grips? I can buy it on line, so I would be sure.

They would both have K frame diamond magnas.
The only caveat being an earlier k 22 prior to about 1955 would have a
slightly different shoulder.

A K-22 from before 1953 would have a different style (sharp shoulder) of diamond Magna grips than a Model 17 (rounded shoulder). Diamond grips vanished in the late 1960s.

My 17 revolver was manufactured in 1962 and came to me with usefull S&W target grip ... so I haven't seen original grip. I'm looking around for original ones (grips, box ....) but I can't appreciate differences between k22 and 17 grips on picture. someone has both revolver? to show differencies ... Thank you in advance. (anyway: if grips are specified for k22 do they fit on 17? ) In the pics the grips I can buy now

Do you current targets have a diamond in the center ?
If so they could be original to the gun.

k 22 stocks will fit a 17
This is a picture of a sharp shoulder set left hand set next to the more
curved radiused edge of later magnas right hand set.
The correct magnas for yours would be the more radiused type.
it is a k and N set just trying to what we were talking about
