Default Grand Opening 27-2

I thought about setting up a poll as to whether or not to open this package but I had already made my mind up.

A buddy I used to buy from was selling an old gun dealers stock. Most were nib from the 70's.

I've had it about 4 years. Just recently I started to become curious/worried. I suppose there could have been a brick in there:-)

I would have died if I found a brick in that box. I'm glad it turned out to be pristine.

I am not sure keeping it sealed makes it more valuable, if someone was ever going to consider buying, I am sure they would want to see it. The cool factor is there though.

Oh my.

Wow, that is amazing.

Truly NIB.

That's an $1800 gun if you so decide. Maybe even more if bidding gets competitive.

What else do you have that is NIB?

You mentioned a 25-2. What else, if anything?

That is a real sweet 4" 27 man. I just bought a 4" from the same era and the serial # is very close to yours, but nickel off GB. I haven't received it yet because I'm presently on a drilling rig off the coast of Texas, but from the pics posted and from talking with the guy selling it, it is also unfired except the factory proof rounds. I gave a little over $1400 for it, so you have a real nice investment there.

Are you planning to run some rounds down the tube on it? I'm thinking of doing a little bit of shooting with mine, but it will mainly be something to look at and fondle at least for now.

That package is SWEEEET!!!!! I have seen one other 70s gun (can't remember if it was a 27 or 29) offered for sale that was in an unopened factory box like yours. The asking price was unreal! The seller stated stuff like "never seen the light of day in over 40 years" etc. My problem was like yours.......what if the gun was damaged in some way, or worse, not even there?

I think you did the right thing. Many of us on this forum would give our right........arm to find someone selling guns like this!

All I can say is WOW! It is one thing to say LNIB and quite another to say never opened and touched by human hands since leaving the factory. Some time dated pictures to verify everything would be very cool. I don't really know what I would have done if in your shoes. I want a 27 right now so that would be tempting but it would also be a nice conversation piece when people want to see the collection and to pass on to the kids. Of course, then I would have to have two of them!

Thank you for sharing even though I am certain you have spawned a great deal of jealousy and drool on this site.

Ok to everyone that asked how does it shoot? This one isn't getting shot or handled very much, I have my shooters and my safe queens .
I hate the term safe queen by the way:-)

I heard back from the seller of my new pistol this in my email today. He shipped out my pistol yesterday, so it should be arriving at my FFL guy's shop around Tuesday. I'll still be here offshore on the rig, so it will have to wait there until I get in from work. And I would like to keep mine unfired too, but I also know myself and it won't be easy to do. In the coming year I plan to pick up another 3 model 27s to finish off the series in all common barrel lengths, so maybe I'll find a 3 1/2" model not in as pristine a shape to buy so I have a short barrel shooter.
