The Blue/Nickel/Stainless Trifecta - pic heavy!
Stuck inside due to the extreme cold (it's 16 above at 3:30 in the afternoon as I write this), I decided to play around in the safe since I couldn't go to the range without my trigger finger cracking off (I belong to an outdoor range). I was inspired by the earlier thread on matched blue and nickel guns, so I invented the trifecta - a matched set of blue, nickel and stainless. Now, we all know that the stainless revolvers are given a different model number, so what I mean is having the same gun in blue, nickel, and its equivalent model in stainless. The fact that I even thought of this just goes to show how infected I really am with this S&W addiction! Isn't it just sick to have the same gun in three finishes? I managed to make three trifectas and took some pics:
First up, the .38 Combat Masterpiece. From top:
15-3 nickel
15-4 blue
67-1 stainless
Next, the .357 Combat magnum. From top:
19-4 nickel
19-3 blue
66-2 stainless
Finally, some J-frame .32s. From top:
31-1 nickel (4" .32 S&W Long)
31-1 blue (3" .32 S&W Long)
631 stainless (2" .32 H&R Magnum)
Can you make a blue/nickel/stainless trifecta? Add yours!

Beautiful pics! Are you sure your dashes are correct? I think your 629 is probably a no dash since it's pinned not a -1. The nickle is probably a 29-2 not a -3 because it's pinned as well.

It is a 1. I also have a 4 in 629-1 that is pinned but not recessed.
I saw a clearly marked 629 on Gunbroker the other day that was recessed but not pinned. Go figure. S&W did some strange things.
Just noticed that I posted the nickel -2 thinking I would posting the -3 that I have.
Thanks for the heads up, I will fix it.

One set of mine. Blued M19-3, nickel M19-3 and a M66-1. They're all sweethearts at the range.

I'll play too!
60-15 3" for the stainless:
27-2 4" for the nickel (unfired):
27-5 6 1/2" for the blue. Note it has a recessed cylinder which is very unusual for a 1990 build:
