Default 629, 66, 63 matched set

So you've probably all seen the Grant Cunningham set on GB right now. As far as I can tell my chances in life to get Grant to do any custom work for me are behind me. I realize the custom work ruins any collector value. But two of these guns are already on my wish list. I have to decide how much premium I'd be paying for the custom work. How much are the base guns worth, stock, with no box and papers? I'm thinking $700 for the 63 and 66, maybe $1000 for the 629, is that about right? If so, I'm paying over $2k for the custom work and the grips, which seems too high even if I like the work.

Hello and welcome to the board. You have 3 desirable revolvers there and you value them on the high side of normal for around here (SE Texas) .

I have no idea what Mr. Cunningham's packages were but you can be sure you will never get your money you spent doing it out of them when it comes time to sell them.

If it were me, I would enjoy all three just like they are and not do the packages. Just me but I have all three you mention and would not change a thing about them.

Thanks, but I am talking about a set of 3 custom guns that is listed on GB right now starting at $4500. I think I've concluded it's way too high.

Sorry, I thought you owned each of the three pistols like the ones Grant Cunningham had customized and were looking to do the same.

The ones listed on GB are too rich for my blood, especially for the minimal amount of work he did!

bcr, it appears you already answered your own question. yes, my friend, they are beautiful. truly the type of thing you show off to your friends...

but, I can't in clear conscience say "hey...go pay entirely too much money for those 3 pistols that you will never ever use, because you spent well over double what the are worth."

no.. you're better off buying "shooters" of those models, unless you happened to win the lottery.

I can think of a lot of things I've seen on gunbroker that I would love to have. I haven't hit the lottery, so, they aren't headed for my gun locker anytime soon.

I just looked up the auction. Those really don't look appealing at all to me. Also, the grips stand too proud on the frame, like they were never hand fit. Just my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing when I was scrolling through the listing. I had to go through twice to see if there was another set of grips as the sets on them seem to not fit that well.
