Default Price ? on S&W M19-3 2.5"

I know I am lacking everything necessary for a decent reply but will settle for ballpark since this is all I have. My LGS has this 19-3 2.5" that they claim is 99% without the grips being numbered to the gun nor box or papers, not a big problem on either count though I known it hurts resale value if I ever sell it. There price is firm at $675 and I am thinking of going in to seal the deal tomorrow. The price of both the M19's and 66's are off the chart of being reasonable but I don't see them ever going south so I think this might be a decent deal especially since I am not a box and paper collector, I would rather put the extra money into a nice pair of grips. My biggest hang up is I just recently picked up this M66-4 for $500 and added the Ahrends for another $70. I think I may have used up my good luck for awhile. WHAT SAY YE ?

Thanks one and all for the advice and input. I have been looking the past 6 months so after seeing one for under $700 it seems like a decent deal.

If it is a "high condition" 19-3 2.5" $675 isn't too bad. Look at it this way, if the had the box, papers, and original grips, they would want more $$$.

Default that's way too much to pay

About a year ago I bought a model 19 2.5 inch blue like new with 2 pairs of grips, holster and padded carrying case for $450 from Gander Mountain, which is not noted as being a low price seller. I don't believe they have gone up in price that much.

Here's what I have for a track:

Smith & Wesson 19-5 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Blue Book of Gun Values (35th Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $650 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 101 recorded prices for this model gun from $395 to $1055 over a period of 4 Yrs 11 Mos ending February 14, 2015. The average price as of that date was $600. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.

The last 23 prices I have for this model since 1/1/2014 range from $450 to $850 averaging $650. The average used price is slowly increasing.

Yes, buy it. Even if some think it's on the high side, who cares. These are only going up in value. Post pics!

If as described, a P&R era Model 19 snubby, 99% mechanically and cosmetically, $675 is a perfectly average price and steal if you've been looking for one just like it and found it at a local store.

Run the proper function and spec checks and if she passes, buy it...

Believe it! Everybody runs across a good deal like the one you got,but if you want a particular gun and wait on the "deal of a lifetime",you may never get it. The $675 is not a screamin' deal, but it sure as hell ain't out of line with current selling prices. Just sayin'.

One way of looking at the price is the most you can lose on the gun is $625. You pay $675 and you will be able to sell it for at least $50. $625. is not much money these days. Larry

That price really isn't high for the gun you described. If you were selling it, what price would you want? That question sometimes clarifies one's perspective.

12 - 18 months ago I would have suggested that the asking price was $75.00 - $100.00 to high. Yet last month I paid almost as much for my 2 1/2" M 19-3 which is in the same condition as the one you are looking at.

I will also suggest in 12 -18 months $675.00 will be a good price for a clean 2 1/2" M-19.

If you can afford it, get it now.

The way prices on 19-3 2 1/2 inchers have been going lately; give it few months and that might not be a the completely crazy price it seems today.

I have a blue 19-3 2 1/2 inch, a blue 19-3 6 inch and last week purchased a very clean nickle 19-3 6 inch for $600. and felt I got a good deal. My other 19-3's are several years old and gave around $350 each for them. They are not getting cheaper and wont since they don't make them anymore. Good investment in my book.

I recently got a 19-3 for $650 it was marked $699. It has wear and no box papers, did have the original magnas though and I wasn't thrilled with the price as it's not a screaming deal but don't see them much and decided Smiths are my vice....Lol. You can always sell your mistakes but you can't always find something you let get away again....

Buy it. They ain't going down in price. In my neck of the woods that would be slightly below what the LGS's would be asking. As for for your hang up, you are comparing apples and oranges. While you may not care about the P&R feature, it definitely has an impact on the guns retail value. There are enough people out there to whom it does matter.
It seems the number of good clean K frame snubs available just keeps getting lower as time goes by.

If it helps you for price comparison purposes, I bought a nickel 2.5 inch 19-4 about 18 months ago, 99% but no box/papers, for $600. It's a great gun, and I'm very glad I bought it.

Agree. A gun that I want is worth exactly what I'm willing to pay for it, regardless of whether anyone else thinks it's a "good deal" or not.

I purchased this one today at a gun show. It is 100% new in mint box for $750. and figure I got a fair deal. I had two offers within 10 minutes for more money but decided to take it home.

Go for it, OP. I have no idea how prices in Bend, OR compare with here in the Volksrepublik Maryland, but I went three years without seeing any, ANY 19 snubbies here, in Southern PA, and NoVA. I jumped on one for $725 at a LGS a year and a half ago, and feel smug about it whenever I see it.
